SBPC Celebrates Earth Day 2026
South Bay Parkland Conservancy celebrated Earth Day on April 18th with an annual gathering at Hopkins Wilderness Park. Robert Dorame, tribal chair of the Gabrielino-Tongva Indians of California, kicked off the day’s activities with a traditional blessing . The event brought together about 600 volunteers, community members and organizations to play, connect and learn to be better stewards of the earth.
Fifty community volunteers joined the tree planting effort alongside the volunteers who helped put on the event. Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi welcomed the crowd alongside Redondo Beach Mayor Jim Light.
The event included a crowd favorite nature walk, led by South Bay Parkland Conservancy volunteer Tatjana Pleus and a seminar given by Xerces Society.
