Greetings everyone,
We're moving forward! A couple
weeks ago I gave a presentation to the Hermosa Beach City Council asking for
their support for our vision of a wetland/park at the AES power plant site, if
we can find a way to incentivize them to sell. Well, as you can imagine,
they're all for it!
So, this Tuesday, July 24th, 2007 at
7 p.m., the Hermosa Beach City Council is going to pass a resolution of
support for our efforts, and ask that the other government officials in this
area assist the State Coastal Conservancy and others in creating the
waterfront park this area so desperately needs. Here is a link to
Tuesday's agenda. Go to item 2.n. and click on the background material
to read what it says.
Let it be known Hermosa Beach is the first
city in the South Bay to pass a resolution supporting the results of the 2005
Redondo Beach advisory vote. They deserve the
appreciation of the entire South Bay!
Please attend the Hermosa Beach City
Council meeting this Tuesday to give thanks for their leadership. The
Council chambers are located on Valley Dr., just south of Peir Ave
directly behind the Hermosa Library (plenty of parking). It starts at
7:10 p.m. Just being there shows you care. If you feel
inclined you'll have the opportunity to say a few words. We
are second on the agenda and you will be out of there by 7:30.
Stay tuned! Next month I'll have
some more good news. And we hope to get resolutions of support
from the other South Bay Cities. Why wouldn't they?
