Subject: Heart Park Update - March
2007
Greetings Everyone,
There's a lot of bill writing going on in
Sacramento now that Proposition 84 passed, along with Proposition 1c - which
alone provides for $400 million for urban parks around the state. Seeing
how we are the most densely populated area on the entire coast of California -
Hermosa Beach has over 13,000 residents per square mile - we expect to win
some of that funding for Heart Park.
It's all about building the political will now
that the money is there, and our congresswoman in the U.S. House of
Representatives, Jane Harman, has been very supportive of our
efforts. Here is an excerpt from her virtual office:
Harman's Environmental Record
Lauded
The Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund recently released their conservation
report card evaluating the 108th Congress. Congresswoman Harman scored a
perfect 100% on 20 critical votes. This
demonstrates her continued commitment to safeguarding wildlife and preserving
conservation laws. To see an online copy of her record, please click here.
Tuesday, April 3rd, she is hosting a "Clean Energy
Expo" at the Toyota Motor Sales - South Campus in Torrance. With
exhibits and expert panels, this should be a great event to educate
ourselves about the efforts to alleviate global warming and learn
conservation techniques that will not only help the environment, but save
money as well. See the attached PDF for more details.
I hope you can attend!
